Monthly Musings Newsletter - Volume Eight

Happy Equinox Everyone!

Whew……This has been a busy, busy Summer for us all here at Terra Firma and I have to say, I am relieved that Fall is here!

As you probably know by now, we moved our facility of 16 years at 542 West 19th to a warehouse on 1010 Tyinn Street #6. We have over 3 times the space and we can now be more organized and have room to work without bumping elbows!

We have been tincturing herbs like crazy and right now our shelves are brimming with tinctures in process. When an herb arrives, either fresh or dried, it is immediately ground in “Millie”, our hammer mill or “Electra.” From there, the herb is placed in glass jars with just the right distilled water to organic alcohol ratio! After 2 months of gently shaking every morning, the herbal extract is filtered and is available to our loyal customers. We will be adding the following tinctures to our line up and will have these available by early 2010:

Boneset, Cascara Sagrada, Cat’s Claw, Coltsfoot, Crampbark, Devil’s Claw, Dong Quai, Fenugreek, Hydrangea, Juniper Berry, Lady’s Mantle, Muira Puama, Plantain, Prickly Ash, Sarsaparilla, Slippery Elm, White Oak, Wild Cherry, Wood Betony, Wormwood, Yerba Manza and Yucca.

We will be featuring these “new” tinctures in upcoming Monthly Musings to offer the history, traditional uses and benefits of these wonderful plants!

And finally, we want to share that Terra Firma Botanicals is now a Certified Organic manufacturer. Our certifying agent is Oregon Tilth, a USDA accredited agency with an outstanding reputation and excellent track record. We are excited to take this important step in having a third party acknowledge what Terra Firma truly believes: Organic is the best way to be!!!
