Summer is in full force here in Eugene with blazing hot days and cool clear nights. As many of you may know we are in the process of moving our production facility and finalize our status as a Certified Organic manufacturer. Oregon Tilth, one of the nation’s leading USDA accredited agencies with very high standards and a phenomenal reputation has accepted our application and will be inspecting our facility in early August. We will keep you posted and appreciate everyone supporting our company during this process!

As far as production goes, we received our wildcrafted St. John’s Wort from the lovely Rouge River valley and put “Millie” (our hammermill) to work processing this amazing plant. St. John's Wort, or Hypericum perforatum, is most widely known as an herbal treatment for depression.

According to the Cochrane Review, a key resource in evidence-based medicine, "the available evidence suggests that the Hypericum extracts tested in the included trials are superior to placebo in patients with major depression; are similarly effective as standard antidepressants; and have fewer side effects than standard antidepressants.”

The first recorded use of Hypericum for medicinal purposes dates back to ancient Greece, and it has been used ever since. Hypericum was also used by Native Americans externally as an anti-inflammatory, astringent, and antiseptic.
